Hamamatsu Agriculture and Industry

Hamamatsu is an industrial city known for producing motorcycles, automobiles, musical instruments, and textiles. The major companies include Yamaha, Kawai, Suzuki, and Honda. One hundrend percent of the pianos manufactured in Japan are made in Hamamatsu. Hamamatsu is expanding from being the city of musical instruments to the "City of Music" through its International Piano competition and hosting a wide variety of international concerts, operas, and ballets.

Hamamatsu, Shizouka is also known for fishing, farming, and forestry. Shizouka prefecture has a mild climate, good soil, and plenty of rain. The main products from this area include green tea, mandarin oranges, musk melons, celery, eels, and seaweed.
