Golf Tournament Raises Money for Project Graduation

The 13th Annual Oro Valley Cup Golf Tournament benefiting Project Graduation was held on Feb. 5 at the Oro Valley Community & Recreation Center. Nearly 50 teams from around Tucson participated in the event. All of the proceeds raised from the tournament go towards covering the expenses for providing an alcohol- and drug-free all-night graduation celebration for 1,100 graduating seniors from Amphitheater, Canyon del Oro and Ironwood Ridge High Schools. Since 2004, “Project Grad” celebrations have kept some 12,000 graduating high school seniors from Amphitheater schools off the streets in a safe and sober environment on graduation night.

National Signing Day: Student-Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Webspring Signing

Amphitheater Schools have a tradition of outstanding athletic programs. Every year top athletes head to colleges and universities on scholarship. February 3 was National Signing Day and Canyon del Oro and Ironwood Ridge had a total of 16 students sign national letters of intent to play college athletics. Congratulations and best of luck to our student-athletes!

We Celebrate our School Counselors

Counselorweek 2016

Amphitheater District counselors have a tremendous impact in helping students achieve success in school and plan for a career.  Our students are different as a result of what school counselors do. Counselors are actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents. They work in partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today's world. They focus on positive ways to enhance students' social/personal, educational and career development, and they work with teachers to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic and optimistic aspirations for themselves.

Kindness Shines at Amphi

IMslide G_8054

Every year fifth grade students from across the District meet to learn about building peace and being kind at the District Kindness Rally.  Copper Creek fifth graders and students from each elementary school gathered to learn about ways they can promote kindness among their peers.

The students thanked teachers for their hard work and kind acts, and they participated in a high energy program with the “Be Kind People.”

The closing ceremony included a balloon and dove release to signify peace.
