Why volunteer with Project ACHIEVE?
• After participating in Project ACHIEVE, students showed 85% improvement in standardized test scores
and a reduction in disciplinary infractions.
• Volunteers help provide students with a safe, nurturing environment after school until their parents return home from work.
• Families appreciate volunteer involvement because families' ability to support their children's academic success is often limited by their own available time, resources and by language barriers.
• For 1½ to 2 hours one day a week after school, you can make a significant impact on the life of a child.
• Each school year we develop a waiting list of students who are counting on volunteers
to get the academic help they need.
• While our biggest need is during the after school hours, volunteer opportunities are also
available during other times.
• Volunteers are matched with students according to their specific interests and talents. A volunteer can request to work with an individual student or with a small group of students.
• Free training and fingerprinting is available to prepare volunteers to help our students.
