SEMESTER RESEARCH OPTION MODULE


Objective: Teacher will research and document the impact of new methods of instruction on student achievement.


Criteria for initial placement
At least a 2/5ths contract, minimum 50% of time with students
Career Ladder Program Expectations were met at Collaborative Action Research

  • Maintenance and completion of a teacher portfolio, organized with a Table of Contents and aligned to Semester Research Option Expectations And Standards For A Quality Portfolio

        May 15, 2009 -- Post-assessment Submittal to ISL

INSTRUCTIONAL SKILLS
  • Instruction is modified and adjusted based upon analysis of student data
  • A.T.P.E.S. evaluation conducted by site administrator

ACTION RESEARCH
  • Independent research is conducted Fall semester
  • Applied research is current and relevant to the focus question
  • Bibliography is consistently updated
  • Research implementation is well documented and dated

  • Development of a Collaborative Action Research Action Plan based on Arizona State Standards/School Site Focus
  • Classroom implementation of new research tied to Action Plan
  • Case Study Cover Sheets completed for three (3) students - portfolio data supports academic outcomes incorporating Critical Components of Student Learning
  • Labeled and dated evidence of Critical Components of Student Learning in case study students' work
  • Class Data Sheet for entire population with a minimum of two (2) assessments (pre, post)
  • Interventions & Extensions documented
  • Analysis/reflection based on reflection prompts

Meeting Semester Research Option Program Expecations qualifies a teacher to participate in CAR the following year.

Not meeting Semester Research Option Program Expectations will result in a return to the traditional salary schedule or require the teacher to meet with the Career Ladder Manager prior to September 4, 2009 to create a Professional Growth Plan if choosing to remain in the Career Ladder Program.
