Donated Technology Equipment Policy
Man Working on Computer

Amphitheater School District appreciates the kindness that the community demonstrates when they wish to donate technology equipment to our schools. Unfortunately, used technology equipment creates additional support and fiscal issues. The current Technology Department staffing does not allow for supporting donated equipment.

Schools or Departments may accept donated equipment with prior approval from the Executive Director of the Technology Department, however; the school or department is responsible to maintain it and provide proof of ownership for all software on the computer including the operating system. Donated equipment, such as computers and printers, may NOT be connected to the Network. Networks are complex systems and the District strives to maintain a reliable and stable network. A piece of networking equipment that is malfunctioning, improperly installed, or not configured for our network can destroy the integrity of the entire network and cause a network failure that impacts many students, staff and services. Therefore, donated equipment cannot be connected to the Network.

A donated piece of equipment must be in operational order, and must be usable at the site. Items will not be accepted and then sent immediately to the Warehouse for the auction (so individuals receive tax breaks). Principals will be responsible for accepting donations.
