Upon completion of their research, presentations are made to the class, informing the class about their topic. Each student also writes an essay and presents a formal speech comparing the beliefs and origins of the assigned religion with their own religious or philosophical beliefs. Each student fills out an individual record sheet that highlights each candidate's stance on the issues they have chosen. A class election is held and students discuss the process. | When Disasters Strike |
Students research a specific natural disaster, focusing on both the cause(s) and effect (to the physical environment, as well as the human population) of that particular event. Students then work in cooperative groups to prepare a 15-20 minute "newscast" (video presentation) analyzing the particular natural disaster with which they have chosen to work.
