A graduate of Harvard College, Dr. Barrabee went on to get his masters degree in early childhood education from Bank Street College, and his doctorate in elementary education from the University of Arizona.

He has been an educator for 40 years. He taught at Harelson Elementary and Prince Elementary over a period of 10 years. He has also taught pre-school, adult and college level students.

His record of community service includes being president of the CDO Parents’ Organization, a member of CDO’s Advisory Council, a member of the Superintendent’s Community Council, an assistant coach and referee in youth soccer, and an umpire in the Little League. Currently he serves on Federal Relations Network of the National School Boards Association and the Symphony Committee of the Greater Oro Valley Arts Council.

During the past six years on the District Governing Board, Kent has delivered on his campaign promise of “Expect Respect.” With the good fortune of serving with superb colleagues, and working with an outstanding superintendent, he has supported the District’s move toward openness, improved administration, and increased appreciation of student, staff and community accomplishments. He encouraged the addition of values to the District's Mission Statement. He believes that with increased morale the Pride of Amphi is blossoming once again.
