Governing Board Vice President/Clerk

Jeff Grant has lived in the Amphitheater School District since 1986. He and his wife, Jo, have parented four children who have attended Cross, Copper Creek, Wilson and CDO. Their youngest son, Matt graduated in the class of 2003 at CDO. Jeff and Jo have two granddaughters, Megan and Rylee, who live in the Phoenix area.

Jeff is employed as the Human Resources Director for the Arizona Superior Court in Pima County (he has spent the past 30 years in the Human Resources profession). He was previously in manufacturing management. Jeff is also a United States Army veteran and served his country in Vietnam.

He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Glendale Community College, a Bachelor of Science in History from Arizona State University, and a Master of Arts in Education from Chapman University. He holds a Certificate in Employee Relations Law, and is a Graduate of Tempe leadership.

Jeff has been active in the Amphitheater School District for a number of years. Prior to his election to the Governing Board in 2002, he had served on site-based governance councils at Copper Creek Elementary School and Wilson K-8 School. He also served on the Amphi District Budget Advisory Committee from 1999-2000.

Jeff has also been active with other area schools, having served on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Southern Arizona, and having served in the Phoenix-area as a Junior Achievement classroom volunteer providing students with education in economics. He was also a volunteer with the Tucson Unified School District’s “4th R” program, helping to mentor high school students in “school-to-work” efforts.

Jeff has been involved in a variety of other civic activities, having been a member and officer of both Rotary International and Civitan. He has served on the Boards of Directors of both the Mulcahy YMCA and the Northwest YMCA, has assisted the United Way of Tucson as an allocations committee member, and previously served as the Chairman of the Tucson Committee of the Arizona Association of Industries. He was the co-founder and first Vice President of the Arizona Industrial Compensation Association, and has served on the Board of Trustees of the Arizona Municipal Workers’ Compensation Pool and the Arizona Municipal Risk Retention Pool. He was appointed by the Governor of Arizona to serve on the Arizona State Personnel Board, 2004-2007. (He chaired the Board during 2006.)

Jeff has a long history of service to the children of our community, having served as a youth sports coach for over two decades. He has been a Coach and Board Member for AYSO Soccer (Region 922) and Little League Baseball (Coronado Little League and Tempe South Little League). He was the founder and first President of the Phoenix Southeast Little League, and has also coached youth baseball, soccer, and basketball programs with the YMCA, and soccer with the CDO Soccer Club.

He has served as the President of his Church Council and his Homeowners Association, and has served on numerous committees with various organizations throughout the community.
