| The Governing Board's Role |
The five elected members of Amphitheater School District's Governing Board play a critical role in the formulation and approval of policies which guide the operation of the district. Implementation of these policies is overseen by the superintendent and district staff.
The Board is empowered to function within the framework established by the Arizona State Legislature, court decisions, opinions of the attorney general and county counsel, and applicable state and federal regulations. The Board fulfills its mission by executing the following duties:

Approves courses of study and instructional materials |

Hires all school district employees and determines their duties under written contracts at salaries fixed by the Board |

Adopts a budget for fiscal year July 1 through June 30 |
|

Approves funds for the planning, expansion, improvement, construction, maintenance, use, furnishing and financing of buildings |
