Evaluating Internet Sites

In the end it is much easier and more efficient to use a fact-checked source like an online encyclopedia or an online database like Sirs Discover than to grab the first thing you see in Google. By using a fact-checked source, you know your information is accurate; using Google, you must take the extra time to evaluate the site.

Here is a list of questions to ask yourself when evaluating a site:

1. Can I read and understand the information?

2. Who wrote this information?

3. Where did this person get the information?

4. When was the information last updated?

5. Is this site biased?

Does this site look reliable?
