Library Rules

Student Conduct

Students are expected to use "library voices" when entering and while in the library. There are always three to four other middle school classes in the building besides your own. We also share the library with Prince Elementary School and work with 30 of their classes every week. Therefore, it is very important to keep the noise to a minimum and to treat all other students in the library with respect and courtesy

Students must have a pass to use the library during classtime. No gum, food, or drinks (except water) are allowed.

Computers:

The four computers on the tall tables near the entrance are for students to search for books.

The four computers on the shorter tables are for conducting research, writing papers, or other classwork. Please check with the library staff before using these computers. You must log in to your own account on these computers. If you use the Internet you will need to have an ID card with Internet permission.

There should never be more than one student at any computer unless you have received special permission from the library staff.

Checkouts:

You must present positive identification in order to check out books.

You may check out up to three books, and those materials are checked out or two weeks. If you have not finished with the books in two weeks, you will need to renew them so that they do not become overdue.

Students with books overdue for more than one week may not check out additonal materials until the overdue books are returned. Every two weeks English and reading teachers will receive a list of students with overdue books. Letters will be mailed home to students whose books are overdue for more than one month.

Fines:

If your books become overdue, you will be charged five cents per school day until they are returned. We do give a three-day grace period in which you may return the books without being charged a fine.
