General Physics
(1 cr., 2 semesters) C0-requisite: Geometry. Prerequisite: Integrated Science and Algebra I. (Students interested in the accelerated science program may exempt out of Integrated Science if the math prerequisite has been met) Physics is more than a part of physical science; it is the most basic of all sciences, about the nature of things such as motion, forces, energy, matter, heat, sound, light, and the inside of atoms. This course exposes students to concepts of physics that are applicable to the everyday world. Mathematics is the language of physics; students use algebra skills to solve problems. Topics will be chosen from the following: mechanics, electricity, and magnetism, energy, light, and sound, wave motion, and atomic physics.
