We offer a multiage program at Copper Creek, better known as MAP. Research has proven that children are much less inclined to make unfair comparisons of themselves and others when the MAP class is comprised of three grade levels. For that reason, the MAP class is made up of first, second, and third grade students. The program offers many benefits for the children in both the younger grades and the older grades. Studies have shown that children holding different positions in the family constellation acquire certain characteristics and traits as a result of their position. Children moving through the MAP program are provided the opportunity to experience each of these positions, thus acquiring many of the characteristics and traits that follow suit. It has been observed that older children attending the MAP class take their responsibility to nurture younger children very seriously. Valuable leadership skills are attained. Older children expect that younger children will desire their help, and therefore they take it upon themselves to over-learn their lessons so that they will be well skilled to offer their knowledge to others. Younger children, on the other hand, look up to their older peers and aspire to follow their lead. This provides them with excellent models and aids the teacher in creating an environment that offers a rich learning experience to all concerned. Students emerge as self directed learners.

There is no ceiling in the MAP class. The curriculum is spiraled to take children as high as they are challenged to reach. If a child is accelerating in one subject but requiring remediation in another, the MAP class enables the teacher to accommodate those needs.

Children in primary grades make solid adjustments and smoother transitions from grade level to grade level when abrupt changes are eliminated from their agenda. It has been our experience that in keeping with the same teacher and classmates for a period of three years, anxiety is lessened and a secure foundation built. Families become well acquainted with other families and a happy community is formed.
