May 2007
Greetings Harelson Parents:
The end of the year is quickly approaching and before you know it, summer vacation will be upon us. This will be my last formal correspondence of the year, so I would like to share a few items of interest.
Reminder: As a friendly reminder, please make sure to pick up your children promptly after school. Our office is very busy after school and it is a place of business. We are experiencing days where we have a number of students in the office after school waiting for a ride home. As it states in policy for open enrollment families, students need to arrive to school on time and be picked up on time. If there is an emergency and you need your child to remain in the office after school for a period of time, please give the office a courtesy call to explain the situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Summer Vacation Workbooks and Software: Again, we are offering the summer vacation workbooks and software for our students and hope you have an opportunity to look over the materials. We had a wonderful response last year and expect the same this year. I would like to emphasize that this is an opportunity for your child to improve their skills over the summer. It is not a fundraiser and you are not obligated to participate.
Class Lists for next year: Class lists for the 2007-2008 school year will be compiled by the classroom teachers and submitted to the office. These lists will be posted outside the office windows on August 3rd after 4:00 p.m. I want to remind you that the teachers spend a lot of time and effort creating class lists that are equitable for the next grade level. Please respect their decision in your child’s placement for next year.
Harelson Funfest: The Harelson Funfest was another huge success and I would like to thank Theresa Stanley, Kelly Mundschenk, Shauna Thomas and the carnival committee for all of their hard work and dedication in organizing a fun-filled event for all to enjoy. I also want to thank Shannon Priest for all the time she spent organizing a very successful silent auction. It was nice seeing the entire Harelson student body and community enjoying all of the activities. I also want to give a big thank you to Scott Bronson for donating all of the water, ice and soda. Lastly, thank you to David and Mary Elder for asking members of the University of Arizona PEP band to showcase their skills during our Funfest. We appreciate you all very much!
Lastly, I want to thank all the parents, faculty, staff, and students for a very productive and exciting year. I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of excellence at Harelson and raising the academic expectations to the next level. I am very proud of to be a part of the Harelson community.
Have a safe and enjoyable summer with your family!
Sincerely, Andrew T. Heinemann
