August 7, 2008
Dear Harelson Parents:
I would like to personally welcome everyone back for the 2008-2009 school year. In this letter, I would like to share some of the highlights and reminders to help start off the year on a positive note.
School Hours: As a reminder the first bell will ring at 7:55 a.m. and the second bell is at 8:00 a.m. All students should be in their classroom seated for attendance promptly at 8:00 a.m. The school day will end at 2:15 p.m. I also want to remind everyone that students should not be on our campus before 7:45 a.m. One of our goals this year is to continue to improve our daily attendance and decrease the number of students arriving late to school. If we work together, we can make this happen.
Early Release Days: We will continue to have early release days on Wednesday with a dismissal time of 1:05 p.m. It is very important that all students are picked up in a timely manner on this day and all other days. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
New Faculty: It is with great pleasure to introduce our new faculty and staff members who will be joining the Harelson family. Linda White – Kindergarten, Peggye Springetti – 3rd Grade, Angie Tierney – 3rd Grade, Becca Sims – 5th Grade, Dawn Baugh – Psychologist, and Gail Stuckey – Special Ed. Teaching Assistant We take great pride in who we select to be a part of our school and as you will find out these new faculty members are top notch.
Parent Information Night: There are two parent information nights scheduled for parents to meet the teachers and learn more about each classroom. Parents of primary students (1-3) will meet on Wednesday, August 13th and parents of intermediate students (4-6) will meet on Thursday, August 14th. Each evening information night will start at 7:00 p.m. in the Cross MPR and then parents will be escorted to classrooms. More details will be coming.
Parent Drop-off and Pick-up: As a friendly reminder, please use the parent drop-off and pick-up when bringing students to school by car. We want all students to be safe and this area is the safest place to drop off or pick up students. If you choose to walk onto our campus in the morning with your child, please park your car in a parking lot and escort your child. Please also use the crosswalks at all times.
I look forward to seeing you and your children in the upcoming days and am extremely excited to begin the year. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please do not hesitate to give me a call. Go Bobcats!
Sincerely,
Andrew T. Heinemann Principal
