Health

Sharon Robinson, Holaway Health Assistant

The school health office is available to students who are sick or injured during school hours. The office is staffed by a health assistant, trained in First Aid. If you wish for your child to receive prescribed medication during school hours a physicians order and pharmacy labeled bottle are required. Only oral, topical, or ophthalmic medications will be adminsitered. Children may give self injections if ordered by a physician.

The health office does not employ nurses or doctors and is not intended for routine health care or clinic use. If your child becomes sick or injured during school hours; first aid will be provided. The health assistant will call parents to pick up children with:

  • temperatures over 100 degrees
  • draining sores
  • vomiting
  • undiagnosed rash
  • diarrhea
  • pink eye
  • head lice
  • serious injury

The health assistant may not take a child home or to the doctor. It is important to list phone numbers of family or friends who can assist in picking up your child if you are not available.
