Registration

Children registering at Holaway Elementary School for the first time, need a birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residence (a utility bill is preferable). We also recommend that any legal papers (child custody, restraining orders, etc.) be brought to the attention of the office.

Children may start class the day after they register. This enables the classroom teacher time to get things organized for the new addition of a new student to their room.

Attendance Regulations

Regular attendance and being on time are necessary for children to develop good attitudes toward school. It is the parent�s responsibility to notify the school if their child will be absent.

You may call 696-6880 after 7:00 a.m.

If we do not hear from you, we will attempt to call you to verify the absence. If the absence is not verified, it will be noted as �unexcused� on the attendance record. Calling us will save time and protect your child!

Students arriving late to school must be checked into the office by a parent. The attendance clerk will record the student�s name and give the student a late slip to take to the classroom.

If a student leaves the school grounds any time during the day, it is necessary for the parent to check the student out at the office. Upon returning, the parent must check the student in at the office.

Students should not arrive at school before 7:20 a.m.

School Rules

All individuals on Holaway�s campus need to understand and comply with our established school rules.

Toys, electronic games, cameras, trading cards, etc. may not be brought to school. Too often these items get lost, broken or stolen. These items must be left at home. Should these items be brought to school, they will be taken away from the student and returned to the parent(s).

General Campus Rules

  • No firearms or weapons
  • No running on sidewalks
  • No food on playground
  • Promote self esteem of peers
  • Be kind to others
  • Be on campus no earlier than 7:20 a.m.
  • Do not disturb others in classrooms (play under ramadas)
  • Play on the designated playing field
  • Keep our school clean
  • Treat each other with respect
  • Use respectful language and behavior
  • Hats will not be worn inside any school building


Playground Rules

  • Fighting or play fighting is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
  • All food/drinks must be consumed in the cafeteria.
  • Students may play in their assigned areas only.
  • Students must be within sight of the playground monitors.
  • Tackle games or contact activities of any kind are dangerous and not permitted.
  • Keep your hands and feet to yourself. (No hitting or kicking.)
  • Use the equipment on the playground as it was intended.
  • Four square and two square must be played by Coach�s rules.
  • Climbing trees or wall is dangerous and not permitted.
  • Because it is dangerous, rock or sand throwing is not permitted.
  • Always walk on the sidewalks.
  • Take turns with the equipment and at games.
  • Gymnastic tricks or routines may not be performed.
  • You must have a pass or written permission to leave the assigned playground area (examples: library, nurse, restroom, computers, classroom).
  • Respond to your bell in a timely fashion.


Cafeteria Rules

  • Keep voices at a conversational tone
  • Respect others space
  • Keep hands and feet to yourself
  • Walk
  • Equipment must be placed in designated areas
  • Assume responsibility for cleaning your own area
  • Dispose of trash in an appropriate manner
  • Speak respectfully to staff and students
  • Stay in seat until excused
  • No throwing food or other objects
  • Stand in line quietly
  • No food outside the cafeteria
  • Use polite table manners


Restroom Rules

  • 2 persons in the restroom at one time (no large groups)
  • No loitering or playing around in the restrooms
  • Clean up after yourself
  • flush toilet
  • throw paper towels in trash
  • wash hands
  • turn water off
  • Show respect and privacy to others
  • Return to class or playground promptly
  • Please report any problems to an adult


Assembly Rules

  • Teachers sit with their class
  • No hats or extra materials at assemblies
  • Enter and leave assembly in an orderly fashion
  • Be attentive and respectful
  • Show appreciation by applauding
  • Remain seated throughout the assembly
  • Keep hands and feet to yourself
  • Be a good listener
  • Use restroom prior to assembly
  • Enter MPR one class at a time
  • No inappropriate noises, i.e. booing; whistling


Field Trip Rules

  • Dress appropriately
  • Use seat belts
  • No loud talking,screaming or yelling
  • Stay with group
  • Obey bus rules
  • Represent Holaway in a positive manner
  • Return permission slips in a timely manner
  • Clean up area you are leaving
  • Listen to teacher or adult who is supervising you
  • Enter and exit bus in an orderly manner
  • Respect other students� rights
  • Students must be with an adult at all times


Bus Line

  • Students must stay in lines
  • Bus riders only in the bus area
  • Hands and feet to yourself
  • Listen and follow directions
  • No saving places for other students
  • Treat others with respect and kindness
  • No running in the bus area
  • Wait calmly and quietly
  • Walk directly to bus lines and remain there until bus is ready to load
  • Inappropriate behavior may result in a loss of bus privileges


Bus Safety

All school buses in the Amphitheater District have seat belts for the children�s safety. We ask that you please encourage and expect your child(ren) to buckle-up. District Bus Conduct Regulation 5151.5(a) requires that children must use seatbelts. Bus drivers will enforce this regulation. It is the responsibility of all of us to insure the safety of our children and we ask that you please discuss this regulation with your child(ren) in hopes we can work together to provide a safe ride, to and from school. In addition, children are not to have animals or glass containers on a bus at anytime. Your understanding and support in helping to reinforce safety practices for your child(ren) would be greatly appreciated.

Cafeteria

Please remind your children to pay for their school lunch ticket in the morning before going to the playground. This saves long lines during the lunch hour.
If a child brings their lunch from home and would like a milk, it needs to be purchased.
Cafe will be willing to set up a milk ticket for the child.
