Ms. Christine Sullivan Email Ms. Sullivan
A Message from Your Principal 1st Quarter – 2009-2010
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2009-2010 school year! As you may know, this is my first year as the principal and I am proud to be a La Cima Cardinal! I’ve enjoyed getting to know your students, the faculty and staff during the past several weeks. I’ve even had a chance to meet many of you at the Six Grade Survival Camp Dinner and 7th & 8th Grade Open House. During this time I’ve discovered something that many of you are already aware of and that is that La Cima is a wonderful school! It is full of friendly, dynamic children who work hard and value education. It is also full of caring adults who work very hard to make sure that students thrive academically as well as emotionally.
There are several things that I’ve asked of your students this year and I communicated these things to them as I introduced myself on the first day of school. First, I asked that they make attendance a priority. When they miss school, they miss out. In Amphitheater School District “Every Day Matters”. Secondly, I asked that they advocate for themselves. If there is something that they don’t understand or supplies that they need, that they ask someone for help. Last, I asked that they be respectful- respectful of themselves, each other, all staff members, and our school campus. These three behaviors will make a difference in your child’s success and their overall experience at La Cima. Please be supportive of these behaviors and remind them of their importance when you talk to your student about their school day.
Finally, you know as parents and caring adults how important your role plays in the success of your student. Thus, we’d like to invite you to get involved in our school community. We have asked each parent to pledge a minimum of five volunteer hours to our school during the year. Many of you have made this commitment and I thank you for your support. If you haven’t had the chance to complete a pledge form, please stop by the office and fill one out. There are many opportunities for you to get involved in classrooms, on campus, and behind the scenes. We need you and we welcome you!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 696-6742. I look forwarding to meeting you and working with you this year. I know it will be a rewarding one!
Sincerely, Christine Sullivan
Atentamente, Christine Sullivan

Ms. Sarah Ruttan Email Ms. Ruttan I’m excited to be calling La Cima home this year! A little bit about myself: I’m from Michigan, and moved to Texas after college to teach. I’m new to Tucson this year and am grateful to all the staff and students who have welcomed me to La Cima. When I’m not at school I love to read, run, hike, camp & travel with my husband. What I love most about working with students is that I’m constantly learning and being challenged to try new ideas. My favorite quote is from Gandhi: “We must be the change we want to see in the world.” I hope that this year La Cima students & staff will be a force for positive change in our school & community.
