Some of the areas that might be affecting school performance are listed below.
Any one of these, or a combination, can be contributing factors to a student not performing up to their potential in school. I firmly believe that we must look at the whole person, and their environment, when addressing poor academic performance. And because middle schoolers have not yet developed their full emotional intelligence, as much as they would like us to believe otherwise, we especially need to address their feelings!

In addition to this primary responsibility, I also do the following: -Co-teach a reading class. -Coordinate the Cardinal Ambassador program -coordinate Odyssey of the Mind teams. -Coordinate the AIMS/DPA testing in spring -participate in school wide efforts to improve student/parent/school relations -assist with other special events, such as Red Ribbon Week -Attend the 'student at risk' meetings -Liason with the Family Advocate, and the Families in Transition staff provided by our District to support our students and their families -Transition feeder elementary 5th graders to La Cima -Transition 8th graders to High School -Maintain the Counseling web page and Blog
