After School Programs!

After School Tutoring and Homework Help
All students at La Cima are welcome to come to join our free after school programs: Achieve for Tutoring and Homework Help; Mentoring; Clubs; and ETC (Empowering, Teaching and Connecting).

This is available on Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at La Cima from 3:35-5:30. Students can take the activity bus home.

In addition to homework help and tutoring (which is offered Mon-Wed for all grades), students may spend half of the after-school time in an enrichment club. These clubs include…
  • Chick Lit and Harry Potter Club--clubs that encourage students to read for pleasure
  • Club Cranium—-club that strengthens reading, vocabulary and critical thinking skills through the use of games such as Cranium, Scattergories, Apples to Apples, etc.
  • Chess Club—-a club to strengthen problem-solving and the use of logic
  • Cardinals Care Club--A club to encourage students to make a difference in the lives of others
  • Folklorico--a club to explore different Mexican culture through dance
  • Men's Chorus--a chance for La Cima's young men to learn about music

  • Other special programs include the following:
  • Mentoring
  • ETC (Empowering, Teaching and Connecting)—-AIMS Intervention and Dropout Prevention
  • Reading tutoring
  • Girl Scouts--Hip Hop classes coming soon!
  • Boy Scouts--meets on Fridays from 3:35-5:30
  • Powder Puff Football
  • Art Outside the Box (art and community service)
  • Odyssey of the Mind
  • MESA (math, engineering and science)
  • Math Counts--a math competition team
  • Tech Gyrls--a technology club for girls only--meets most Fridays

  • Homework Help begins August 18. Clubs and special programs begin September 8.

All students may attend homework help and enrichment clubs, but some of the special programs require registration (though all are still free). For the current schedule, please see the bulletin board in the foyer of the main building.

Students should listen to WULC each day for more specific information. Parents can contact Mr. Frank Kischer or Ms. Stephanie Mass. 696-6784

In addition, students may participate in Comics Club or Open Computer Lab in the mornings.
