State Budget Crisis
Painted Sky Parents, Be Aware and Involved in the State Budget Crisis
Currently, the state of Arizona is facing a huge deficit over the coming fiscal year (2009-2010). The leadership of the Arizona legislature has proposed cuts to K-12 education that would result in nearly $1 billion reductions next year. This reduction represents roughly a 22% cut in K-12 funding. This remedy would be a disaster for our education system. There is the possibility of a Federal Stimulus package, but for now, I understand that it may require the state to fund education at the 2006 level, something that would not be the case if significant cuts are made.
Please be informed and involved as debate goes on regarding the budget. Let your representatives know about your concerns regarding devastating cuts to K-12 education. Here is their contact information for District 26 legislators:

We believe: Parents, staff, and students share ownership in the learning process. Students are expected to develop self-discipline, assume responsibility, and be accountable for their actions. A strong work ethic and high expectations lead to academic excellence. Every student must be taught how to utilize current technology as a learning tool. Learning is an ongoing process in which children are encouraged to take risks and ask questions. That the Painted Sky campus should be an environment where everyone is treated with mutual respect. In an educational environment that provides for different learning styles.
