| Rio Vista's Mission Statement Our mission is to provide quality education in partnership with parents and the community. Quality education means we develop the very best in each child through standards-based instruction. We provide English Language Development program, REACH, on-site Special Education, Reading Blocks, Title 1 services, Artist-in-Residence and Project ACHIEVE tutoring and clubs. We encourage parent and community involvement through our Family Teacher Organization FTO, the OASIS Program,our Reading Seed Partnership program, School Site Council and a strong alliance with the local businesses and organizations. Our School Profile Rio Vista has highly qualified staff involved in ongoing professional training. We serve students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. All students receive 90 minutes of direct reading instruction at their instructional level which is determined by classroom assessments and our Measure of Academic Performance(MAP) testing results. Grades K-5 reading instruction uses the Houghton Mifflin reading program and the literature based Pegasus program. Our K-5 classes instruct with the research-based Everyday Math program. Our school provides instruction for students with special needs and interests through the English Language Development program, REACH, the ACHIEVE program, Special Education classes, and tutoring. Kindergarten students participate in P.E., Art, and Music classes. All other grades attend P.E., Music, and Art. We also offer students opportunities to participate in Student Council, Band, Orchestra and other extracurricular activities. Highlights of our school year include:
