I am a Registered Nurse certified in school nursing and I am new to Wilson School this year and had been at CDO High School the previous two years. My previous experience was in pediatric nursing for 12-13 years. Carmen Arias is the Health Assistant and she has worked in that capacity for 12 years. I serve as the health professional for the school community and provide the following services.

· Illness and injury assessment and intervention
· Medication administration and monitoring
· Immunization monitoring and notification
· Health assessment and participation in Individualized Educational Plan Development
· Chronic disease management and education
· Vision screening on all Kindergarten, First, Fourth, and Sixth Grade students and all new students
· Hearing screening on all Kindergarten, First, Second, and Sixth Grade students and all new students
· Parent notification regarding vision and hearing screening if further evaluation is required
· Safety Committee member
· Intervention Team participation

On an average day we see 50 to 65 students. Often parents call and want to know what “bug” is going around school. You can now get that information by clicking the Current Illnesses link located on this Web Page. You can also continue to call me.
Please notify me if your child is diagnosed with Strep Throat, Chickenpox, Whooping Cough, Mononucleosis, MRSA, suspected Mumps, and Lice. Many of these diseases are highly contagious and mandate a report to the Pima County Health Department. You don't want your child to become a "Typhoid Mary" (see the story of Typhoid Mary under the Medical Resources section).
Please keep us in mind when your child outgrows his/her clothes. We are always in need of used clothing especially shorts/pants with elastic waists, tops, socks and underwear. Students may need a clean change of clothes.
