The Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are a set of standardized, individually administered measures of early literacy development. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency measures used to regularly monitor the development of pre-reading and early reading skills.

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) are state-aligned computerized adaptive tests that accurately reflect the instructional level of each student and measure growth over time.
MAP tests provide highly accurate results that can be used to: Identify the skills and concepts individual students have learned. Diagnose instructional needs. Monitor academic growth over time. Make data-driven decisions at the classroom, school, and district levels. Place new students into appropriate instructional programs. |

All students, attending an Arizona public school, are assessed in grades 2 - 9 as follows:
Students in Grades 2 and 9 take the TerraNova. The TerraNova is a national norm-referenced assessment created by CTB/McGraw-Hill covering language arts and mathematics.
Students in Grades 3-8 take the AIMS DPA (Dual Purpose Assessment). The AIMS DPA is a combination of AIMS criterion-referenced assessment questions developed by Arizona educators and based on the Arizona Academic Standards, and questions from the TerraNova, a national norm-referenced test created by CTB/McGraw-Hill.
