All About Mrs. Gosla
I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS in Hotel/Restaurant Management. After working in the hotel business for two years, I decided to change careers. I completed my teaching credentials at the University of Arizona in 1988 and in the same year started my teaching career. The 2009-2010 school year will be my 22nd year in education. I really love teaching third grade because I enjoy the developmental stage of the children and the curriculum. I am married and have two children. I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

Teaching is a rewarding profession because the students inspire me to be my best. I strive to teach my students to be problem solvers and to develop a love of learning that will stay with them for a lifetime. I have high expectations for student behavior and achievement.

Third grade is a big transition year for students. They are now considered intermediate or "big kids". Many new concepts are introduced across the curriculum. Some of the science topics we will be studying include plant life, geology, the physics of sound and light, with an ongoing emphasis in the scientific method of discovery. Some of the topics we will be studying in social studies are geography and map skills, levels of government and the election process, United States symbols, explorers, the Civil War, and Ancient Greece and Rome.

Communication between home and school is very important. I send home weekly newsletters and behavior reports. Your child's school papers are sent home every other week. Please take the time to review all communications with your child and return all necessary forms to school in a timely manner.
