Ms. Shiers

This is my ninth year teaching in the Amphitheater District and my third here at Painted Sky. I have taught first, fourth, fourth-fifth multiage, and fifth grade. Three years ago I received my National Board Certification, a long and difficult process, but one that was rewarding. I have been living in Tucson since 1995 but I was born and raised in California. I love teaching and being at Painted Sky Elementary School.
I have many interests including bike riding, scrapbooking, reading, and much, much more. I am even a high school and college basketball referee in my spare time. I recently bought a house, so most of my time is consumed by working on all the jobs that need to be done to fix up the house! I traveled to Japan in October as part of the Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program. It was so amazing to learn about the educational system and culture of Japan.
I am excited to be in the second year of looping with the students, it is wonderful be with the fun students and families that are represented in our classroom. I look forward to preparing the students for their middle school experience. |
