My name is Bonnie Abril. I am so happy to be part of the Painted Sky Family. This current school year is my 14th year in teaching first grade. I have been teaching first grade at Painted Sky since the school opened in 2000. Before I came to Painted Sky I taught at Rio Vista elementary school. In the past I have taught preschool and was a director of an early childhood program in Tucson. I have my teaching degrees in preschool and elementary education. In November of 2006, I achieved my National Teacher Certification in early elementary education. I love learning and strive to keep up with new knowledge and current educational trends.
Teaching reading to first graders is a passon of mine. I also have a love for children's literature. My family teases me because I can't pass a store without looking at books and purchase a few for my classroom library. I have over 2000 books in my personal class library. Reading and writing are very important componets in my curriculum. Students who enter my classroom will have many opportunities to browse through my library and read, read, read! |
