Learning Objectives for the lesson:
BTEOTLYSBAT: Know the basics about Copper team science class.
Purpose of the lesson:
Welcome and meet the students. Introduce the students to classroom P & P and expectations.
Lesson procedures and activities:
1. Greet all students, have students find seats. This instruction will be on the board and TV monitor (power point). (5 min)
2. Introduce self to class, tour classroom. (10 min)
3. Distribute and review handouts. Emphasize the five Skills of Learning Science (20)
4. LOS- Schema, learning styles (20)
Methods of assessing student learning:
1. On Friday, (8/11) students will take 25-point quiz to assess knowledge of policies, Skills and LOS.
2. Also on Friday, students will reflect on class “so far,” and describe their first impressions of Copper Science class.
Accommodations for special needs students:
Special needs students have not been identified at this time.

Purpose of the lesson:
Students will understand the characteristics of descriptive writing, and reading.
Lesson procedures and activities:
1. Review the past two days, AOK? (5 min)
2. Behavior Plan.(5 min)
3. LOS review. (2 min)
4. Technical writing activity with newspapers, magazines, textbooks, etc. Class divided into groups of four (10 research, 10 reporting)
5. Students make list of technical writing characteristics in their journals.(10)

1. Students will submit their description of their favorite food on Wednesday, 8/16
