Week of 11/17-11/21 Math: Chapters 9 and 10 in our math book deal with multi-digit multiplication with whole numbers and decimals. This is where the kids really need to know their facts!!! The problems that we're working with are long. The state won't let them use calculators for these problems so they really need to know how to do it the long way. If homework is taking too long because of this, please feel free to modify the amount of problems. However, please let me know what you have modified. The Chapter 9 test will be on Wednesday. Look for the following homework this week: 9/5 on Mon., 9 Review on Tues, 10/1 on Wed., and 10/2 on Thurs. Please notice your student's multiplication and division fact tests in their Monday graded work folder.
Reading: We're continuing to read the novel Blood on the River. With each "chunk" of chapters, the kids are to note the things that the main character Samuel "did", "felt", and "learned." For the most part, we are getting this reading and writing done in class, but sometimes there will be a small portion to finish up for homework. Today we read chapters 3, 4, and 5 and wrote about it. This amount can be recorded on the Wranglin' Reader Calendar. Please continue to have your child read at least 20 minutes 4 times a week and record it on the Wranglin' Reader calendar.
Spelling-Study the words from List#14. The final test will be 11/20. The worksheet for this lesson will be due on Tuesday, 11/18. Language: There will be a quiz on 11/21 over the grammar (DOL) and vocabulary words that we have worked on during the week. Study for that on Thurs. night.
Social Studies: The next social studies test will be on Friday, 11/21. The test will cover what we've learned about Roanoke Island and Jamestown. The class has notes for Roanoke and the beginnings of Jamestown. We'll have all of the notes finished by Wed. Please don't let them leave this to the last minute to study/cram.
Science: The egg drop report is due on Wednesday, 11/19.
