KEENE KIDS' 5th ANNUAL READING OLYMPICS

Click this link for rules, information and check off sheet!
The 5th Annual Keene Kids' Reading Olympics has begun! This "friendly competition" will run from August 28, 2009 thru May 14, 2010.

Each quarter, we will celebrate our readers hard work and dedication - with our final award ceremony the last week of school.

This is a FABULOUS program meant to encourage students to read several different genres of literature. Get ready to explore a whole new world through books!

Here are some tips to reach your medal goal:
Bronze: 3 books per quarter
Silver: 4 books per quarter
Gold: 5-6 books per quarter

CLICK ON OUR WEBSITE "LIBRARY LINK" to the left (then go to the "AR" quiz link) to check and see if the book you want to read is an Accelerated Reader book! If not, check with Mrs. Keene for approval BEFORE you start reading. :)

GOOD LUCK READERS!
Weekly Reading Log

Click here to get a copy of this week's reading log.
Please fill out your reading log each day. All students MUST read at least 100 minutes OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL per week (that's about 20 minutes, 5 days per week). Silent Reading during class should be put down on your Reading Log, BUT they do NOT count as your 20 minutes. Students may count reading in the core (Social Studies, Science or Reading) textbooks toward their 20 minutes.

Remember, Reading Logs are part of your Reading Grade each quarter, AND REQUIRED as part of the Reading Olympics program.

Reading Logs should be turned in EVERY MONDAY, and should be signed by a parent to earn full credit.

HAPPY READING!!!
