I’ve taught at Donaldson now for more than twenty years, but before I came to Donaldson I taught in the East Jackson Public Schools (MI), Marshalltown Public School District (IA) and in the Indian Oasis-Baboquivari Unified School District (Sells, AZ). I earned my BS & MA degrees from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI and am certified to teach both general education, (K-6) and special education (K-12) students. I have additional endorsements in the areas of Specific Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disabilities, Orthopedically Impaired, Other Health Impaired, Sheltered English Immersion and Early Childhood.
I really am looking forward to a year full of possibilities.
I will work to do my best to prepare your child for whatever lies ahead. Please feel free to email me (see blue e-mail link above) or call me, if you wish to share any special insights about your child or have questions &/or concerns. My classroom phone # is 696-6186 here at Donaldson. If I am not available, please leave a message and I will try to return your call as soon as I am able.
Family Info:
I am married and my husband, Dave, also works with those who have special needs in his position as a Maintenance Supervisor for Van Tran, but in his off time continues to volunteer as an Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #211. This is the troop that both of our sons belonged to when they were younger & earned their Eagle Scout Awards. He enjoys it immensely!

Several summers ago, our family vacation (yes- all four of us) was with this troop. Forty-one scouts and various family members hiked down the western rim of the Grand Canyon and camped between the Havasupai Falls & Mooney Falls. While I am not the camper of our family and absolutely terrified of heights, I must admit it was truly beautiful and I’m so glad I went!

Both of our sons attended Donaldson, Cross Middle School & Canyon Del Oro High School. They are now both in their twenties. Brett, our oldest son is a supervisor at Magpies (Great pizza!). He also attends Pima Community College, where he is taking courses in Hotel & Restaurant Management.

Our younger son, Colin, graduated in May 2007 from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, where he was a Theology major. That same summer, he commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant at Ft. Lewis as a Chaplin’s Candidate and married Carrie, whom we absolutely love, in Seattle, WA. Their wedding reception was at the Space Needle.

Carrie also graduated from Whitworth that same May. She earned her degree in math & elementary education. She is now teaching sixth graders at Gregory Heights Elementary in the Highline Public School District, while Colin works to earn his Master of Divinity degree at Fuller NW Seminary in Seattle, WA.

I can share that I am an only child & my parents, Chet & Dot Peers moved to AZ not long too long after we moved to Tucson. My parents had many talents. Dad could repair almost anything & he created wonderful things like baskets & furniture for all of us. My mother still sews with amazing skill, but she most importantly she's there for us whenever we needed help or guidance.
In our leisure time (Ha!), Dave & I have been trying to finish a home remodel that has gone on far too long. We actually worked very hard & completed the greater percentage of it before Carrie & Colin’s AZ wedding reception. While we are almost there, we still have things to do, but are honestly tired of it. Be very careful who you hire for a remodel. We learned the hard way. I’d really like to do is get back to gardening, creating stained glass and mosaic pieces, reading, painting (well, maybe not so much of that any more), and spending time with my family and our dog.
Molly!
We have one dog named Molly.
Molly is a Retriever-mix that we adopted from the Humane Society just before Christmas of 1998. It’s amazing to look at Molly now & think she came home in a traveling kennel not much bigger than a man’s shoebox. She’s gone through some tough times though. When she was just over a year old, she blew one ACL and then four months later she blew the other one. This is a type of injury you sometimes hear athletes having and requires surgery to correct. Molly has had two.

She’s doing fine now, but still wants to chase rabbits – which was how she injured herself in the first place. Now, we try to restrict her to hunting just lizards. When I go to school on week-ends Molly sometimes comes and she loves to go down the slide that's closest to Donaldson's Learning Lab. She usually comes in once a year to work with the students in class & motivate them to write. Molly is a wonderful companion - especially when my husband is off camping and hiking with Boy Scout Troop #211. We feel lucky to have her in our family!
