| | | I have always loved reading and languages. Words empower us. I feel that the words, imagery and ideas we use are our credentials in life. I summon up the best, most eloquent words I know to speak with my family, friends and students out of respect for them and wanting to express exactly what I feel. In middle school and high school, I took Spanish and French in order to know the languages of my ancestors, to honor them. I took Latin and Russian because I could not get enough of languages. Learning the patterns of how Latin words logically transformed into Spanish and French fascinated me. I read extensively in Spanish and French in college and graduate school. My Masters degree program opened a world of other cultures and literature for me. I have lived in Reims, France. I have studied Art History and enjoy introducing my students to the great masters of Spain and France. I began teaching Spanish first year college classes at Michigan State University while I was doing my graduate work. I have taught Spanish and French at public and great private schools on the East Coast at the high school and middle school levels. The truly bilingual world of Tucson fascinates me and I hope to open a world of language and culture to students who are new to Spanish and to help my students who are fluent in Spanish to cherish the language of their ancestors and to learn its rules, spelling and patterns. |
