Student Materials:
Two sharpened pencils and two pens in class each day
One 2-pocket folder (no brads in center)
A 1" binder and a set of binder dividers (to hold syllabus and portfolio samples)
One computer disc, that is to remain in the binder at school at all times
Dictionary and/or Thesaurus

Personal Experience Narrative
Formal Communication: (letters, messages, directions, etc., addressing specific audience and using appropriate format)
5-Paragraph Essays
Literary Response: Lit Study (outlines and drafts), Literary Reviews (outlines and drafts)

Portfolio Guidelines
Each student is to provide a 1" three ring notebook, that will be kept in the gray cabinet in the Language Arts classroom, and in which students will place finished/revised pieces of work, as well as final, graded assessments, that demonstrate their competency in the Arizona Standards.
At the end of the school year, students will each bind their completed showcase portfolio, which will then be graded as part of their final exam for the class.
Every student is expected to maintain an organized portfolio that includes all required items listed in the "Binder Guidelines."
