What is the JFMF Program?

Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund

October 2007 Delegation Pictures

This amazing program allows educators in the U.S. to travel to Japan for three weeks in an effort to promote greater intercultural understanding between the two nations.

Each year 400 American educators, in two separate delegations, begin their visit in Tokyo with an orientation on Japanese life and culture with Japanese government officials and educators. The American educators then travel in groups of 20 to selected host cities.

Primary and secondary school educators throughout the United States can apply to take part in this program as guests of the Japanese Government. To date, more than 5,800 teachers have visited Japan through the JFMF Teacher Program. Teachers of all disciplines, from every region of the United States, are encouraged to apply. Applicants are not required or expected to have previous knowledge of Japanese or Japan. For more information about the 2008 competition, please refer to JFMF's website.

Lets fold a couple of million cranes and wish for world peace.”
