Ms. Porteous' Music News
Welcome to Christine Porteous' Music News!

Music Goals:
Elementary students sing and play instruments, while performing music from a variety of genres and cultures. Students learn the basics of music theory, including rhythm reading, and music notation in standard form.
4th grade band students learn either clarinet, saxophone or percussion, and perform in a Spring Concert.

Middle School elective classes include the following:
Guitar I: We will be learning how to read music. We will also learn how to perform notes and chords on the guitar, from the Hal Leonard method book level one.
Guitar II: We will continue to work in the Hal Leonard method book. We will learn strumming patterns, and learn basic skills on the electric and bass guitars.

A Star Is Born: Students participate in a variety of creative expressions, including the following: acting, singing, creative writing, reader's theater sharing, and prop and set designing. We will use video cameras to record class performances.
