Biome Webquest & Mini-Book
Introduction
While not a true webquest this activity will allow students to create a mini-book on the world's major biomes, which they will use to learn about biomes in an engaging fun way!

The Task
Students will be given a mini-book framework in class that they will complete using a variety of internet resources. After students receive the book they will label it from top to bottom in the following order:
1. Tundra
2. Taiga (Coniferous Forest)(Boreal Forest)
3. Temperate Deciduous Forest
4. Tropical Rainforest
5. Chaparral
6. Grasslands/Prairie/Savannah
7. Desert
8. Freshwater
9. Saltwater (marine)

Students will be divided up into thirds, where each student researches three biomes. Students will complete their mini-book sections for the assigned biomes. Those students will then be responsible for teaching the other students their biomes; while the other students will teach them the remaining six biomes. Please also refer to chapter 03 in your text to help with this assignment.

*****for bonus points students may make another section for the Temperate Rainforest Biome of the west coast of North and South America or any other more specific aquatic or terrestrial Biome that was not included in our mini-book....
This would need to be completed on a page or small poster of the student's own design; separate from the mini-book.

Resources
Below are some sites that will help you accomplish your tasks. This set of valuable sites has been collected for researching biomes. Use them to harness the Internet to fill in the missing facts. You may also use your textbook or another resource. If a link is broken, use your online research skills to find the site/page. If you find a good site let Mrs. Robson know and we will add it to the list!
