What's happening in our class?
I am looking forward to an exciting year! This year we are able to offer our students some excellent programs that will help them achieve their educational goals.

WRITNG - This year, 5th grade writing is being taught in the regular classroom using an inclusion model. Fourth grade writing is taught using a pull out model. This means that the regular classroom teacher and I am working closely with the regular education teachers to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all the learners in the class.
SPELLING - Spelling words come from our Trophies reading program. Students are given a spelling packet to work on each week. They also have spelling test each week.
MATH - All students are in the regular education classroom so that they may take advantage of the accelerated math program.
READING - We are using the Trophies reading series. Students are learning valuable reading comprehension strategies that will help them move from learning to read to reading to learn. You can support your child at home by encouraging them to read, read, read!

As a special education teacher, my goal is to help students identify their strengths and then use those strengths to overcome areas of weakness.
