General Music Class at Walker Elementary

Welcome! Lulu Walker Elementary is a K-5 School and is a part of the Amphitheater School District in Tucson, Arizona. Walker is located at 1750 West Roller Coaster Road. The elementary students at Walker get to come to music once a week. The Curriculum is based on the Arizona Department of Education Standards and focuses on involving your child in music making in several key areas. Each of the content areas is presented at the level of complexity appropriate for a student's age and stage of development. My main goal is to make music as engaging and fun as possible so that they will enjoy exploring the different aspects of music.
Musical skill areas of focus:
music reading
singing technique
instrument playing
informed listening
improvising
composing and arranging
In addition to the regular music classes, all the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade students have the opportunity to participate in the choir. Choir rehearsals take place on Mondays after school. For those students in band who cannot attend Mondays, choir rehearsals will be offered before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. See the "Parent Information link for more information about the Choir.
Many of our students are also taking part in musical productions and operas throughout the year. Stay tuned for more details about which classes and grades are performing and the dates and times of these performances!
