Blogging and 21st Century Skills

I have enrolled our class in nicenet.org , an online communication center with conferencing and teacher questions to answer for my students in a recommended educator's blog. Blogging is a form of communication that is posted to the Internet where students read and respond. Students will have the opportunity to submit posts about school related materials and respond to their classmates. It is the latest way to communicate using technology. The number of online blogs is expanding exponentially. I have shown the class how to use our site. This is a completely private webpage where only people with the class key (the teacher) can access. Students can access the blog by going to www.nicenet.org and typing in their username and password (case sensitive).

Students have been given a user name and password. Please remember that the only people who have access to this site are the students that I have selected. If you have Internet access at home, I would appreciate your help in getting the kids up and ready. If not, students may use our classroom computer during free periods. I am really excited to start this and hope that your child shares my excitement in blogging! Please ask them periodically to share what they are blogging! I want you involved as well!

P.S. Remember that all students have signed the acceptable use policy. If any student breaks the policy, I will be forced to delete their post and deny them access for the remainder of the year. Please make sure that your child understands what is acceptable and what is not!

The correct web address is Nicenet.org, it is not .com or .net
