Book Orders |
Our class will be ordering books from a couple of book clubs. Order forms will be distributed each month. This is a great way for students to order inexpensive books for extra reading. Students can use these books to meet their reading requirements each quarter. When ordering books from the book club, be sure to make checks payable to the book order company. Please do not send cash.

Class Parties |
Our class will have at least four parties throughout the year. We will have a Fall Harvest Party, a Holiday Party, a Valentine's Party, and an End-of-the-Year Party. I will have a sign-up sheet at Parent Orientation Night for parents who would be interested in helping to organize any of the class parties.
We also celebrate birthdays! Parents feel free to send in your child's favorite treat on their special day! Be sure to check the district's new guidelines for sending in food.

Scrapbooks |
| We will work on a scrapbook project throughout the year. Children will be photographed during field trips, assemblies, in their specialist classes, during presentations, parties, special occassions, and everyday activities. In addition, students will keep a portfolio/binder of special work, art, best tests, and awesome samples of their writing to add to their 4th grade memory book. Students love creating this lasting keepsake and being able to share it with family and friends. |
Girl's Day IN and Boy's Day IN! |
Girl's Day In and Boy's Day In, is a reward the students earn.
Once a month, I invite the girls to eat lunch in the classroom and just hang-out with me. Sometimes they paint each others' nails, they play teacher and games and just have fun getting to know each other.
Likewise, each month, I invite the boys to eat lunch in the classroom with me and just hang-out. Typically, the boys play games, play teacher, listen to cd's and even dance! This has proven to be a motivational reward as well as a way for the class to bond! It is best to bring a sack lunch on this day to avoid long lunch lines which take up our valuable time and short lunch period! |
Buddies |
Our Buddy Class is Mrs. Carlson's 1st Grade Class. We meet regularly in the atrium and do parallel activities. Often times the 4th graders read to their buddies, teach them math, write their dictated stories, and share friendship! This is a very motivational activity for both classes. Occassionally, some students will do make-up work, homework, or math drills if they are not up to speed. This definitely motivates students to be responsible and to do their job-schoolwork, since Buddies is a favorite activity! Buddies is a bonus that is earned through being a responsible 4th grader and good role model to their 1st grade buddies. |
