All About The Teacher
Ms. Mulleneaux graduated from the University of Arizona in December 2008 with a BFA in Art Education, a minor in Art History, all with honors. Ms. Mulleneaux grew up in the Amphi district-she attended Copper Creek Elementary, Wilson K-8 Middle School, and CDO for high school. She won the Amphitheater District Anniversary competition, for completing a water color of one of the first Amphitheater elementary schools (you can check it out in the front office of any Amphi school!).

Art is one of the few venues of education that enables young minds to illustrate their personality, spirit, and character in their work. Art consists of passion, inspiration, and determination. Every student has the ability to achieve new levels and skills as a result of an artistic environment. I hope to challenge my students to personally provide themselves with the courage and self esteem which develops in art. It is from that courage that students can empower themselves to achieve great and wonderful things later on in life.

It is necessary for students to find connections both to themselves and to their community through art. There is always room for personal expression in art, and if student’s can include this in their work they will become and continue to stay involved in their artwork. Having students focus on things that are interesting, important and significant to them will inspire their interest in art. There are generally several connections a teacher can make to help students realize that what they are doing in important and relevant to the “real world.” A central focus in my studies has been on the constructive and affirmative effects of creating art in neighborhoods and throughout the community. I will integrate this beneficial and productive tradition into the classroom to help make students aware of their surroundings and build productive relationships with those around them.

Ms. Mulleneaux is proud to announce our famous artists here at Cross! We have several artists that will have work displayed in the 5th Annual Holiday Houses Festival at Casas Adobes Plaza on Saturday, November 14, 2009, held by the Junior League of Tucson, Inc. This event is a family festival and admission is complementary for all! All proceeds of the 2009 Holiday Houses Festival will benefit the community projects of the Junior League of Tucson, Inc., JLT Cares, a partnership with Pima Council on Aging and Neighbors Care Alliance, and Done In A Day, building a better Tucson community through our own volunteer manpower in support of such organizations as St. Luke's Home, the Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Westside HOPE, the Salvation Army, and many more. Please come support the following artists who will be showing their truly stunning Aboriginal Paintings: Neel Patel, Sarah Brooks, Destiny Jones, Deja Bostick, Hannah Launius, Lexi Robison, Lisa Lavergne, Jayme Pribula, Vivian Wells, Jarryd Barney, Maria Pakulis, Alex Dmitroff, Jessi Field-Sierra, Olivia Duffett, Maria Romano, Lauren Dobbin, and Becky Thead.

ALSO, PLEASE COME AND SEE THE BEAUTIFUL ARTWORK WE HAVE DISPLAYED IN THE LIBRARY!!!
I am excited to put on display our most recent printmaking project the students have worked so hard on. Students created block etchings which they printed on soft pastels. The prints were silhouettes of trees printed on pastel blends illustrating the times of day. They are beautiful, colorful, inventive and imaginative!
Here are our most amazing students in the front office:
Becky Thead, Lauren Dobbin, Olivia Bernas, Rachel Hensen, Katrina Dinwiddie, Sophia Bonar, Jessi Field-Sierra, Maria Pakulis and Matthew Castillo.
