Welcome to Mrs. Rowe's
Third Grade Class!

Hello. Thank you for visiting this website. I hope you will be able to view it on a regular basis for useful information about your child's third grade class at Coronado K-8 School. This website, along with my weekly newsletter and weekly update of the Homework Hotline (696-6707, press 1, 3, and 3 to reach my message), should help us to communicate well. Also, new this year, I am going to attempt to post a daily blog of the day's happenings. Check out the link on the left.

Grades were posted for the third and final time during the first quarter of third grade by 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23rd. Please always read the message that is on the online grades page. I change it a bit each time I update the grades.

All About Mrs. Rowe

This year begins my thirteenth year at Coronado K-8 School. I have taught third grade for five years. I have also taught first grade for eight years, six years at Coronado and two years at a K-3 school in Delaware. In addition, I have taught middle school PE and preschool and was a substitute teacher one school year. The 2008-2009 school year begins my seventeenth year of overall teaching.

My husband Hank is a 7th grade social studies teacher at Coronado. He is also the middle school REACH teacher, the yearbook advisor, and the mountain bike club coordinator. We have a seven-year-old son named Ashton (he and Hank are in the photo above with me at Bushkill Falls in Pennsylvania). Ashton is a second grade student at Coronado. Coronado K-8 School is a family affair for us! Hank has three children from a previous marriage: Peggy is 13, Alex is 18, and Geoffrey is 21 years old. I received my Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix and my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education in Pennsylvania.

Hank, Ashton, and I take a month-long road trip each summer to visit my mother in Pennsylvania. Along the way we spent time in St. Louis, Philadelphia, NYC, and all of the New England states. Once back in Tucson, we spent time taking Ashton to various camps, doing projects at home, taking classes, and preparing for the new school year.

During the school year I participate in Career Ladder, a voluntary professional growth program, and Project EXCELL!, a Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) Grant, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. One of its goals is to increase student achievement. I am also a proud member of our local, state, and national education association. I love teaching! It is the only career I have ever considered since I was three years old (so my mother tells me).

It was Ashton's first trip to the Liberty Bell.

None of us had ever been inside of the Statue of Liberty before this trip. You can only go inside of the pedestal.

We visited Maine for the first time. The temperature on the beach was cool for summertime!
