| Welcome to Mrs. Rowe's Third Grade Class 2009-2010 school year!
| | Hello. Thank you for visiting this website. I hope you will be able to view it on a regular basis for useful information about your child's third grade class at Coronado K-8 School. This website, along with my weekly newsletter and weekly update of the Homework Hotline (696-6707, press 1, 3, and 3 to reach my message), should help us to communicate well. Also, new last year, I am going to post a blog of the day's happenings at least once a week if not more often. Check out the link on the left.
Grades were posted online for the second time during the second quarter of school on Tuesday, 11/17 by 6:30 p.m.

All About Mrs. Rowe
|
This year begins my fourteenth year at Coronado K-8 School. I have taught third grade for six years. I have also taught first grade for eight years, six years at Coronado and two years at a K-3 school in Delaware. In addition, I have taught middle school PE and preschool and was a substitute teacher one school year. The 2009-2010 school year begins my eighteenth year of overall teaching.
My husband Hank is a 7th grade social studies teacher at Coronado. He is also the middle school REACH teacher, an Odyssey of the Mind coach, and the mountain bike club coordinator. We have a eight-year-old son named Ashton. He is a third grade student at Coronado (but not in my class!). Coronado K-8 School is a family affair for us! Hank has three children from a previous marriage: Peggy is 14, Alex is 19, and Geoffrey is 22 years old. I received my Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Phoenix and my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education in Pennsylvania.
Hank, Ashton, and I take a month-long road trip each summer to visit my mother in Pennsylvania. Along the way we spent time in Glen Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, Devil's Tower, Mt. Rushmore, Chicago, Niagara Falls (us there in the photo above), and the Jersey beach. Once back in Tucson, we spent time taking Ashton to various classes & camps, doing projects at home, taking classes, and preparing for the new school year.
During the school year I participate in Career Ladder, a voluntary professional growth program, and Project EXCELL!, a Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) Grant, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. One of its goals is to increase student achievement. I am the teacher representative at PTO meetings. I coach an Odyssey of the Mind Primary Team each year and am the school-wide coordinator for Odyssey of the Mind. I play the guitar (just chords) occasionally in class. I am also a proud member of our local, state, and national education association. I love teaching! It is the only career I have ever considered since I was three years old (so my mother tells me).
Old Faithful is erupting in Yellowstone National Park.
It takes your breath away to see the Mt. Rushmore faces in stone, getting larger moment by moment as you walk closer and closer.
 It's Ashton's 8th birthday. We're in PA at my mom's house.
Ashton loved looking for seashells in the morning in Wildwood, NJ.
