Welcome to the new school year
I would like to welcome all of you to fourth grade! We are going to have a fun and exciting year. Many of you know me from last year in third grade. This is my first year teaching fourth grade and I am very excited. However I student taught with Mrs. Adamo in fourth grade. I will be teaching writing to the entire fourth grade and I like to use my own life in my writing examples. You will probably hear some of those examples if you haven't already. Sharing is a good way to relate to the students and they get a kick out of the stories I share. If you don't already know I am married to Tricia, who is a First grade teacher at Holaway Elementary School. We have a 4 year old daughter, Noelle, and a son, Vaughan, who just turned one. My family and I love spending time camping, hiking, swimming, playing sports and reading.

I have great expectations for our students. They will have approximately 30 to 40 minutes of homework each night. Please look at the homework with your child and help them in anyway possible. Part of that homework includes reading. Reading should be something that your child is doing daily for information and enjoyment. The only way to become a better reader is to read, read, read. Every night your child will have math homework. This is necessary as part of our math program. There will also be a spelling and grammar packet handed out every Wednesday. The packet will be due the following Wednesday. The spelling packet is meant to help your child learn their spelling words. From time to time the students will have additional homework to reinforce skills that we are working on in class. The homework that is assigned is important and necessary for the students to pracice what is being taught and to help them improve and blossom as young students. If the students fail to do their homework it will effect their grades and they will have to go to lunch work room in order to complete the unfinished homework. This is necessary so that the students can keep up as well as learn responsibility. The easiest way to avoid lunch work room is to get the homework completed. Please feel free to help your child and encourage them whenever necessary.

If you have questions or concerns feel free to contact me at my classroom or via email. I encourage you to contact me and to stay informed so that together we can provide the best education for the children and allow them to grow as students and people.
