Welcome to Reading with Miss van der Zee!
Hello! Welcome to the wonderful world of Reading! I am very excited to get started opening up the world while reading. I am a Tucson native and I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in English Education, many of my courses included literature for young adults. I am also an avid reader. This is going to be a great year!

Reading Class
This year, as a class, we are going to be diving deep into the wonderful world of reading! My goal for the reading class is that students will be able to read and comprehend most of the materials they read. Also, students will read for pleasure more often then before.

In order to be able to meet these goals, we will be practicing the skills connected to the Arizona State Reading Standards (copies on my website). I expect every student to do their personal best, without cutting corners. This means that late assignments are strongly discouraged. Even if they are late, the information gained through completion is important to future lessons. The best way to do well in this class is to READ! Read a lot of different types of literature and materials!

Each student will be reading an book chosen for themselves. We will also be working on books within the classroom that I have chosen. Own choice books will need to be discussed at home. All books that I do with the whole class will have been approved through the school. If there is an issue with a class novel, please contact me and we can talk about it.
