About Mrs. Wilkening

I am a PolarTREC teacher that went on a expedition to Barrow, Alaska in March 2009 to work with OASIS researchers in the Arctic. I have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the UA and a M.Ed. in Secondary Science Teaching from NAU. This is my fifth year in 7th grade science at Wilson. My career started in industry where I worked as an engineer for 13 years. After my second child was born, I taught part-time for 8 years. I have a son studying engineering at the UA and a daughter at CDO.

I am a 5th generation Arizonan and like most desert rats, I love the water. I participate in triathlons, running races, water polo, and love to surf as often as I can. I have a new passion for the polar regions and love Alaska!
