Mrs. Pierce's 8th Grade Language Arts

| Students will be learning a variety of different concepts and standards in Language Arts. First semester students will be involved in a Personal narrative, research paper and other writing projects that include the six traits of writing: Voice, Word Choice, Ideas And Content, Organization, Sentence Fluency and Conventions. Through these important 6 concepts students will experiment with writing to discover more about themselves as writers. In the spring the students will be able to focus on Expository writing and use skills learned in first semester to aide them. One of my main goals is to help the students not only improve and gain a better handle on their writing but to also become more independant and goal centered as individuals. Not only will students learn about communication and writing, but they will also learn basic life skills that will enable the students to become more independant and responsible. |
