11/12/2008 Read to at least chapter 3 in Roll of Thunder by Monday Star Power Take down tables Arrange in three circles Each person draws 5 chips without looking in the bag Explain scoring system Gold chips = 50 pts Green chips = 25 pts Red chips = 15 pts White chips = 10 pts Blue Chips = 5 Explain trading rules Players must clasp hands to make a trade. Only the best of 5 chips count. Chips of unequal value must be traded once hands are clasped. No trading or talking unless hands are clasped. If arms are folded, you do not have to trade. All chips are to be hidden at all times If a trade cannot be made, the two players must continue to clasp hands for the rest of the trading session. Conduct first trading session - 8 minutes Participants record scores on board and then return to original seat Participants divided into Squares, Circles and Triangles 0 - 100 = Triangles 105 - 200 = Circles 205 + = Squares Conduct Second Round Each participant gets 5 more chips (GE bag to Squares) Same trading rules as round 1 Squares can make rules circles and triangles can make suggestions for rules suggestions must be submitted to the Squares in writing squares can accept, modify or reject suggestions squares announce new rules Play 3rd round with new rules in place Continue playing until rebellion by Circles and Triangles
