Our Week
Fireworks
Our focus last week was our own culture and heritage. Students created family shields, wrote "I COME FROM . . . " stories, watched a the video Culture and Identity then wrote about themselves, and created a poem about the "Colors of Us". We also spent time creating a report about the country we were studying. Students made PowerPoint programs and will be presenting all of this information next week.

Subtraction Practice Page
Subtraction continues to be the focus for math. Students are enjoying hands on activities while they learn how to subtract. Be sure your child is practicing their facts as often as possible.
Homework
Open_Book
There is no formal homework this week but we are having a reading contest. Be sure to fill out the form that was sent home on Friday if your child does any reading. Remember to fill out the Wrangler Reader sheet as well.

Reminder....
Sharing Friday - students may bring in a "special" something from home to share with the class. Not only is this a great way to get students to stand and present, it builds a stronger community of friends as we learn more about each other.
Spirit Friday

Class T-shirts
Each Friday is Spirit Friday - and Second Grade Round-up. The students should wear Wrangler Wear EVERY Friday. The class shirt is a good shirt to help us qualify as having school spirit and meets the requirement as Wrangler Wear. Please remind your child to wear either their class shirt or other Wrangler wear each and every Friday.

Wrangler Reader Sheets
Wrangler Reader sheets came home each month. Please remember to initial these AS your child completes their weekly reading. They are due back in class at the beginning of the next month and new sheets are passed out to the students. Please remember, there is a prize at the end of the year for any second grader that reads 80 hours through-out the year.

The link above goes to the PTO Wrangler Reader Sheets. Be sure to click on the correct month at the bottom of the page.
