April 1 Class work:Today all class periods were in the computer lab to type paragraphs 1-3 for the biography essay.

Homework:Grammar 4.2
April 2 Class work:Periods two and three graded Grammar 4.2. Mrs. Nicholas modeled the use of the new active reading sheet. Then we did a preliminary activity to prepare for a poem we will be reading tomorrow.
Period six and seven graded Grammar 4.2. Students recorded words and phrases that came to mind when they thought of geese, bear, and crow. Then Mrs. Nicholas read us a poem entitled "The Adventures of Isabel." We will write a new stanza for the poem tomorrow.

April 9 Class work:Today we corrected Grammar 4.3. Students received a rubric for grading the R/S connection sheets. This should help all students to know what will be expected with this work. All periods will be in the computer lab on Friday to work on the biography project. Remember that the book cover is due on Friday and the essay is due on Monday.

Homework:Complete a connection for your R/S reading. Your biography book cover is due tomorrow.
April 10 Class work: We will be in the computer lab for work on the biography essay. Biography book cover is due today. Presentation days will randomly be assigned and students notified.

April 13 Class work:Biography essays were collected today. Book covers were returned and the grading discussed. Assignments were made for biography presentations. Presentations begin on Wednesday. We finished practice grading the first week of connections.

Homework: No connection due for today due to the fact that we had no R/S today.
April 14 Class work:

April 15 Class work:Today we had four presentations in class. Then we began to grade the connections for April 9, 10, and 14.

April 20 Class work:Today we started with several presentations. Then we recorded MAP data in our binders. Finally, we set personal goals for the MAP test that we will be taking tomorrow in the computer lab.

Homework: Active Reading sheet (connection)
April 21 Class work:Period two was not able to begin the MAP testing today due to some computer difficulties. They will take it on Wednesday. All other periods were able to complete the MAP reading testing.

Homework:Connection due tomorrow. Four connections will be due on Wednesday. These four connections are from April 16, 17, 20, and 21.
PERIOD 2-Your fifth stanza for "Isabel" is also due on Wednesday. For help go to the documents page of my website.
April 22 Class work:Period 2 in the computer lab for MAP testing.
Periods 3, 6, 7 continued with presentations. Then we practiced grading a connection together to gain understanding regarding what is expected with this work.

Homework:Grammar 4.5; Four connections will be due on Friday. These four connections are from April 16, 17, 20, and 21.The firth stanza for "Isabel..." due Friday for period 2.
April 23 Class work: Period 2 graded Grammar 4.5 and finished with presentations. We did not finish grading the connections today or "Isabel."
Periods 3 and 6 graded the grammar and connections.
Period 7 completed presentations. Students graded Grammar 4.5 and the connections.

April 24 Class work:Period 2 graded the connections from April 16, 17, 20, and 21. We also completed the bellwork and discussed similes.
Periods 3, 6, and 7 completed bellwork. As a part of the bellwork we discussed similes. Then students used the remainder of the period to complete the fifth stanza of "Isabel."

Homework: Complete a connection from your R/S reading.
The fifth stanza from "Isabel" is due tomorrow at the beginning of class. Make sure you highlight the alliteration in the poem.

April 29 Class work: Today we discussed personification, simile, metaphor, assonance, and alliteration as we saw it in an excerpt from a poem. Then we graded the connections from the last week. Finally, we recorded some MAP data in our binders.

Homework:Grammar 4.6 was sent home today. Students will need a resource page to help complete this. You will get it on Friday in class along with a brief mini-lesson. This work will be due on Monday.
